Our next meeting is Friday, Sept 13th at 7:30pm (demo start) and 7:00pm (meeting start). This month we are pleased to have Jason Schley of Schley Bonsai in DeLand come to us for a “mystery demo”. Since the tree is larger than the clubhouse door is, we’ll meet this month at Agresta Gardens, 1661 S Chickasaw Trail.
Central Florida Bonsai Club
Bring Your Own Tree Workshop — UF/IFAS Center. This Saturday Aug 24th, 10am-3pm. It’s the time of year to be working tropicals, bring something seasonably appropriate needing some work! Bright lights, air conditioning. Members clean their own messes, and bring their own beverages/snacks. 🙂 See everyone Saturday!
Friday, August 9th, 7:00pm. This month our meeting will focus on a Willow Leaf trunk that is around 20″ wide, and about 4 feet tall. It has a lot of damaged branches that make it unsuitable for bonsai, but the top is great and so is the bottom. We will begin a process of reusing the trunk elsewhere, and air layering all of the 4-5 inch wide branches, around 12-15 of them. There will be enough air layers for everyone to learn on, so be ready to get your hands dirty if you like. Our meeting format will be a lot shorter than normal, so if you are used to showing up late, you might miss quite a bit! 🙂 Topics include this months calendar (which is posted already on our website!) to see if there’s improvements or adjustments and additions based on your input. Help us set the year! Seeya there.
Bring a dish to pass, bring swim trunks and a towel, and bring a tree to show off/exhibit if you like! Starts at noon, goes ’till 4pm. Club members and families are invited! This years summer party will be at Agresta Gardens, address on flyer.
The next CFBC meeting will be held on June 21, 6:30 pm, at Agresta Gardens, 1661 S. Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, FL 32825
There will not be a meeting on the usual meeting date!
The artist is Mrs. Jennifer Price, who’s studied with Walter Pall and Jim Doyle, among others.
This will be a byot workshop, so please bring your one best tree for Jennifer to work on or critique.
She has extensive knowledge of most conifers and deciduous trees, as well as tropicals.
See you all there!
