March program: willow leaf ficus root cuttings

This month, Adam Lavigne, The Prez, will be talking about a propagation technique on Florida’s favorite ficus, F. Salicaria.

Adam will talk about the different uses of this technique, the history of it in Florida, and will have some examples of trees in various levels of development, grown using it.

The main tree to be demonstrated on (a big clump) came from the root base sawn off of a clump during a demo by the late, great Florida bonsai master, Jim Smith

There will be saws, wire, Ficus sap, bonsai soil, mayhem, and way too many bad jokes.

Should be a good time!

There will also be a discussion of next year’s officers, the upcoming BSFconvention , the Dragon Tree Nursery fieldtrip and much more.

The date: Friday, March 8, 2019

The time: 7:30 pm

Location: the UF/IFAS Orange County Agricultural Extrension Office, 6021 S. Conway Rd, Orlando Fl.
