I picked up this Jade plant at Joy of Bonsai in January of 2011. I never really cared for them as bonsai material too much because most of the ones I’ve seen had straight trunks. This one has a nice beginning trunk but after that it became very straight with no taper.

So I decided if I was going to create a jade with movement and taper in the trunk it would need drastic measures. In April I cut the trunk down to the first branch.

There is not much left and it will take some time to develop the taper but at least it no longer has a straight trunk!
Now here it is in May of 2011, 4 months later after being purchased.

It needs much more development and I may reduce the height even further.
