On Sunday Oct-16, after spent some hours at Durastone nursery and watched Jim Smith doing a demo styling beautifully a salicaria clamp to a Banyan tree showing in a few words his experience and vast knowledge with savy comments, I thought about the message from Karate Kid movies (original ones).
Jim Smith actions and words have a deep meaning that go beyond the now and material world. His understanding of human condition combined with the great artistic talent bring the best from the people who can see or feel his energy level.
When he says the beauty is in the eyes of each person, it brings the hope and joy to all bonsai enthusiasts.
There was a crossing root at the front of the Banyan tree at the end of the styling, and most of people were favorable to take it out. Jim said leave it as it is. It gives character. Paying attention to his remarks, I realized that his point was to show that some features are part of the tree. We don’t need to change completely the character of the tree.
I learned more about bonsai and a lot about wisdom that Sunday, plus the secret of longevity with active life!

That last picture of Jim is great! Thanks for sharing.
